Words When There Are None
Jerusalem lies in ruins, burned under God's judgement after generations of warning and rebellion. Jeremiah writes from inside that wreckage. He complains bitterly, yet he will not call God cruel, because the destruction was deserved justice. Then he names God as Yahweh and remembers mercies new every morning. Lament teaches suffering people to turn towards God, tell Him the truth, ask for help, and trust Him without pretending the pain is resolved. Jesus bore the judgement sin deserves and cried out when forsaken. Those who belong to Him come to a tender Father and wait for a city that will never be destroyed again.
