The Extent of God's Grace

God's grace travels further than we expect, but it does not travel forever. In Jonah, a rebellious prophet is swallowed by a great fish and spat onto the shore of his calling, while an entire city of enemies repents. In Nahum, that same city has returned to wickedness and judgement falls. Together these prophecies show that God has the sovereign right to extend mercy to whomever He chooses. Jesus, who willingly died where Jonah only reluctantly preached, is both the fullness of that mercy and its final Judge. The door is open. Now is the time to walk through it.
