Judges

The book of Judges is a parade of unlikely heroes and repeated failures. Israel conquers Canaan but compromises with enemies, adopts idolatry, and spirals into chaos. God raises up deliverers like Othniel, Ehud, Deborah, Gideon, Jephthah, and Samson, yet each reveals human weakness more than divine strength. Their faith is real but flawed, their victories incomplete, and their legacy fragile. The refrain echoes: when there is no king, everyone does what seems right, and the result is moral collapse. These accounts expose the futility of human effort to rescue ourselves and point desperately toward Jesus, the King who conquers sin, loves perfectly, and brings lasting deliverance where every earthly judge fell short.
